About Us

We have been providing a high quality professional photographic service throughout Mid-Wales from our base in Aberystwyth for almost forty years.

I qualified after studying at the Wednesbury and Harrow Schools of Photography which complemented the wealth of practical experience gained over many years in the long established studio of Pickfords Photography. In 1968 upon Glyn Pickford's retirement, I set up Malcolm Slater Photography to continue the tradition of High Street Photography in Aberystwyth.

Social Portraiture and Weddings, as well as group photography, mainly for the departments, halls of residence and sports and social clubs of the University of Wales, formed the main focus of our activities for much of that time.

Photography has always been a cutting edge discipline, and the exciting influence of the digital revolution, with the importance of the World Wide Web, now gives us a very welcome freedom in how we conduct our business. We have given up our base in town, and closed our bespoke framing section, to enable us to concentrate on our expanding photographic activities, from our new custom built imaging suite. 2009 therefore, marks a new era for us, with the transposition of Malcolm Slater Photography to the Internet. WWW.MALCOLMSLATER.COM now forms our New Shop Window onto the Digital High Street, though of course we will continue to retain all our e-mail and telephone contacts as before, allowing all our customers increased access to our services.
We have always been open to innovation, and since switching to digital photography we continue to be keenly enthusiastic in keeping up with the exciting new advances in digital imaging. We are proud of the huge body of work both on negative and digital that we have produced over the years, and feel it important that our secure archive of all these images is actively maintained so as to remain accessible to our customers.
